Bloomsbury Tea Room offers its
guests a relaxed and enchanting experience in the charming Averon
Carriage House. Built in 1890, and part of the Castro-Lodge Averon
Estate and mansion, the Averon Carriage House is one of the most
historic buildings in all of Capitola. Home to a tea room for over
thirty years, it has become a Capitola tradition and destination not to
be missed.
You will enter into a wonderful world of hospitality where each room is
decorated with an individual attention to detail, and a stately Magnolia
tree stands watch over the lovely English Courtyard and English garden.
You will enjoy the aroma of delicious warm scones fresh from our oven,
hardy lunch selections and tea time delicacies made fresh daily with
only the finest ingredients. And you will discover a large selection of
the finest pure and flavored loose leaf teas steeped to perfection and
brimming with goodness from around the world.
Bloomsbury Tea Room is sponsored by Concept 232 Incorporated, which is a
non-profit public benefit volunteer corporation. The tea room is
operated by volunteers with a minimum paid staff, which allows the
proceeds to help support various community activities held at the tea
room.
The mission of Concept 232 is to create venues that are dedicated to
organize and inspire cooperative fellowship in individuals and families
through the manner of serving those less fortunate in their community.
Specific to the Bloomsbury Tea Room is the hosting of complimentary
Victorian style tea parties, etiquette classes, and support groups for
the distressed and underprivileged including children, seniors and those
affected with life threatening diseases.
